About Me

Greetings!
I’m Amanda Jene, a freelance concept artist, illustrator, and designer based in Texas (USA).
Art has been my greatest passion since I was a kid; it was always simply a part of who I was. Growing up, I always wanted to get into the animation and gaming industry, but I was always told it wasn’t going to happen. So, I spent the past 15 years trying all kinds of artistic careers and learning new skills.

I went to community college for visual arts in 2012, then started a side gig drawing portraits of people and pets. In 2016, I deep dived into graphic design, web design, product design, and digital illustration. Using those skills, I ran my own business creating and selling stationery and planning products, all while offering freelance design services on the side.
In 2020, after the pandemic hit, I went hard learning to create comics and webtoons, diving deep into storytelling, and learning each step of the process. Comic storyboarding, character acting, and expressions then pulled me full-circle back to animation. My dream refused to die.
The next year I went to the University of Texas at Dallas and took a few classes learning 3d modeling, rigging, surfacing, animating, and lighting. I enrolled in character design and storytelling classes taught by industry professionals online, studied more helpful art books, and focused training the skills I needed.
Now I work as a freelance concept artist and illustrator, continuing to learn and improve as I go. I’m also studying UX/UI Design in a Google certification program, working toward game UI design in the future.
TL;DR
Call me a generalist ’cause I do a lot of stuff. Currently working remotely as a concept artist and illustrator.
